Activities and Events

The Club has hired a Consulting Forester to manage a timber harvest on Gem City Outdoorsmen property. Beginning the week of February 19, the forester will be doing an inventory of the trees on our property. There will be times we will have to close down the rifle ranges while the foresters and loggers are working behind them. Please be understanding when the ranges are closed for this work to be done. 

The Trap fields are open Tuesdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM till about 1:00 PM.

The annual JACK FROST TRAP SHOOT will be held on Sunday, March 25. Plan on stopping out to participate in this event. More info will be coming soon.

Gem City Outdoorsmenwill be hosting the First Annual SHOOTING SCOTS TARTAN TOURNAMENT on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15. Gem City is partnering with Edinboro University Shooting Scots Archery Club to support their mission to promote a love of archery through instruction and friendly competition to strengthen the archery community at large, The event is open to the public. PA State Archery Association Rules and Regulations apply. Entree fees are $30 for adults and seniors, $15 for youth (17 and younger).

HUNTER SAFETY CLASSES are planned at the Club on April 8, June 23, and September 22. Class size is limited and you must register in advance to save a slot. Registrations must be done on the PA Game Commission website.

Gem City will be hosting NRA BASICS OF PISTOL SHOOTING classes several times this spring and summer. The course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. It is about an 8 hour course and is instructor(NRA certified) lead with both classroom and range time. Cost is $20 for Club members, $50 for non-members. Scheduled dates are May 22 and 23 (8 hours over 2 evenings), June 24 (8 hour day). and July 24 and 25 (8 hours over 2 evenings). Contact Larry Daley at 814-449-5777 to register or for more info.

YOUTH FIELD DAY has been scheduled for Saturday, August 25. Pre-registration is necessary and can be done at the PA Game Commission website.

Starting with the 2019 membership year, there will be some changes for NEW MEMBERSHIP applicants. Applicants for membership must have a current member in good standing as a sponsor. IF the applicant is not sponsored by a current club member, the applicant will be charged the current cost of a State Police background check. The Club will have the background check done and when a "clean" report is recieved we will process the application. NEW MEMBER APPLICANTS must attend a membership meeting with their sponsor to receive their membership card with gate combination. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS.
