The weather is turning for the better. We now have 20 field airgun targets made and ready to use. We will be shooting these targets in the woods and will be having impromptu shooting to test targets and get the feel for Field Target shooting. If anyone is interested in getting in on the early shoots( before having actual competitions) email or call me and I will notify you when we get together to shoot. We will be learning about field target as we go at our own pace. we have a lot to learn. I can teach what I have learned, any ideas and recommendations will be listened to, so shooters with any airgun knowledge can say their piece. We can shoot all airgun activities at the club so any airgun may be used. For field Target you need to have a gun that will shoot accurate up to 55 yards. You will need to know your holdovers for the different yardages. Targets are set from 10 to 55 yards. Targets have different sized kill zones that must be hit for target to fall and be scored. The kill zone hole sizes are from 3/4 to 11/4 inch. Things needed to compete. One bucket or backless stool ( to shoot from unless you are an expert freehand shooter) one airgun 177 or 22 caliber Some type of pellet pouch ( to keep pellets handy) and bipod shooting sticks (can not be attached to gun) and lots of practice. Watch this forum for notices when we will have competitions. ( this will be after we have some shakedown shoots to see what would need changes may be needed. If you are interested in shooting airguns but have a broken one. I can repair any that you can still get parts for. Airgunning is another activity at our club that we would like to build on. Maybe even against other clubs. Once you have equipment it is a lot cheaper than shooting powder burners, It takes more skill due to the trajectory of an air powered pellet but some airguns can be as accurate as small powder burners to 100 yards. This is a very good sport for shooters that can not afford ammo or cant take the recoil of a powder burner. enough for now, if anyone is interested all are welcome. Get in touch with me. JCS
